Where the West was FUN!!
Western Adventures in North Idaho
Nothing captures the imagination like the Wild West. It was a rough and
tough place full of danger and hard work. Here in North Idaho, we’ve taken
out the dust and the dirt and tamed it just enough to make it all play
and no work, unless you want to pitch in with the chores.
Lookin’ for dinner and a show? How’s about dinner, a show and a shootout? Rockin’ B Ranch, 15 minutes West of downtown Coeur d’Alene, just a stone’s throw over the Washington State border, provides dinner theatre peppered with chuck wagon cookin’, all at a reasonable, family-affordable ticket price! You don’t have to sing for your supper at their 10,000-square foot barn. You’ll fill up on the best barbecue this side of the Rockies and be entertained all the while. You can also enjoy a selection of Northwest beer and wine at the Cantina. But be sure to experience the “water chute lemonade delivery system” and cowboy-coffee-in-a-sock.
Rockin’ B’s theme this season is How the West was Swung! It’s a tribute to the Tin Pan Alley, upbeat, down to earth, blues driven, dance inspired origins of authentic Cowboy music…as performed by the Riders of the Rockin’ B. This year, the new Shootout Show will once again pit Dusty Bicuspid and Skunk Forrester in a battle with the forces of evil. Best-selling humor writer Pat McManus is back this year with his “indentured actor” Tim Behrens to present three full-length comedies.
So, if you’ve got some time this summer, a week, a few days, a few hours or just an evening, you’ll have a grand old time in North Idaho at our resorts, riding ranches and entertainment venues. North might be in our name, but West is in our heart and our traditions.

The Western Pleasure Guest Ranch is 1100 acres of pastures, tall pines and breathtaking views of the Selkirk and Cabinet mountain ranges, 16 miles northeast of Sandpoint, Idaho. Its owners have transformed this historic fourth-generation cattle ranch into one of Idaho’s quality guest ranches. It’s a hands-on approach to horseback and trail riding where they limit the number of guests to maintain quality and personal attention. Perhaps you prefer wagon rides or to sit on the porch and watch the wranglers run the horses up from the meadow? Have a Dutch Oven Dinner served outside at the fire pit with music around the campfire afterwards? They are ready to accommodate your visit to your liking, in summer or winter.
Red Horse Mountain Ranch has been a family dude ranch vacation getaway and retreat since 1947 and has just become Idaho’s newest member of the National Dude Ranchers’ Association. They provide a high ropes and challenge course, kayaking tours, miles of scenic trails, kids program, horseback trail rides, fly fishing, as well as countless other seasonal activities. It is also a perfect setting for couples vacations, singles vacations, family dude ranch vacations, and corporate retreats.
